Six employers ordered to pay MPF non-payments

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (November 30) pursued six claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $55,000 on behalf of 18 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     Two defendants, Climax Paper Converters Limited and Lo Chi Ho and Wong Sui Yin formerly trading as LKT Limousine Service Co, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $18,900 and $630, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other four defendants, Lo Chi Fai trading as LKT Limousine Service Co, Global Land Property Agency Limited, Wong Sui Yin formerly trading as LKT Limousine Service Co and Wong Shui Lung formerly trading as T & L Cleaning Company, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $17,278.02, $10,204.69, $7,560 and $521.38, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal further ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $164, $7.69, $120, $129, $92.31 and $109.
