Life-long learning helped equip police officers to shoulder the responsibility to uphold the safety of society, the Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Hong Kong, Professor Tsui Lap-chee, said today (November 28) when inspecting a passing-out parade at the Hong Kong Police College.
He said that everyone had to keep abreast with the developments of society in order not to be marginalised.
He noted that the Police College, a staunch supporter of life-long learning, provided continuous training for police officers at all levels and hosted seminars to enhance international exchanges with police forces around the world.
These comprehensive training programmes enhanced officersˇ¦professionalism by fostering new skills and knowledge in accordance with the needs and changes of society.
Professor Tsui pointed out that the Police College had not only ensured the high standard of the Hong Kong Police Force but also the continuous improvement of each and every police officer.
He encouraged the graduating officers to pursue life-long learning through which they could broaden their horizons and face the challenges ahead.
A total of 14 probationary inspectors and 190 recruit constables passed out today.
