Appointment of HK Polytechnic University Council Chairman

     The Government today (November 26) announced that the Chief Executive, in his capacity as the Chancellor of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), had appointed Ms Marjorie Yang Mun-tak as Chairman of the PolyU Council for a term of three years with effect from January 1, 2010.   

     The Secretary for Education, Mr Michael Suen, welcomed Ms Yang's appointment.  
    
     "Ms Yang has been very committed to serving the community and is widely recognised for her vision and dedication.  I am confident that PolyU will continue to scale new heights under her leadership," Mr Suen said.  

     Mr Suen also paid tribute to Mr Victor Lo, the outgoing chairman of the PolyU Council.

     "Over the past six years, Mr Victor Lo has made a significant contribution to the continual development of PolyU.  Under his outstanding leadership, the University has made great strides in pursuing academic excellence in application-oriented teaching, undertaking research relevant to industrial, commercial and community needs and fostering links with business and industry.  We are indeed very grateful to Mr Lo for his invaluable contribution to the University," he said.
