The following is issued on behalf of the 2009 East Asian Games (HK) Ltd:

Regarding the media reports today (November 25) on the cycling road races of the East Asian Games (EAG), the 2009 East Asian Games (HK) Ltd made the following response:

The 2009 East Asian Games (HK) Ltd (EAG Company) has been maintaining constant contacts with the Hong Kong Cycling Association and seeking their technical advice on the design of the race routes.

At the East Asian Games Association meeting held in mid of May this year, the EAG Company had briefed the members on the routes of the three cycling road races, including the suggestion of changing the start and end points of the Men's individual road races from the Chinese University of Hong Kong to Chong San Road. All the participating countries and regions of the EAG had sent representatives to attend the meeting and endorsed the suggested routes.

The Hong Kong Cycling Association also organised a real-time test event for the local athletes on the route of the cycling road race (men) in September this year.

The EAG Company has been consulting the Hong Kong Cycling Association in the preparation of detailed technical information on the race routes for dissemination to participating National Olympic Committees (NOC). The information is just finalised and the EAG Company has sent the race route information, together with elevation maps and information about starting and end points of the races to the participating NOCs by electronic mails today.
