The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

The annual event of the Legislative Council (LegCo) - LegCo Building Open Day will be held this Saturday (November 28) from 9.30am to 5.30pm. Not only can visitors pay a visit to this 97-year-old historical Building, but they will also have the opportunity to observe bands performance and participate in two do-it-yourself (DIY) activities and send e-cards.

To enhance visitors' understanding of, and interest in, the LegCo Building, two DIY activities will be incorporated in this year's Open Day. Visitors can make badges out of the pictures they draw on the spot and stamp images of the LegCo Building on the Open Day leaflets in memory of the event. Staff will be on hand to help visitors make badges and counters will be set up for stamping the images.

Moreover, as the Open Day will be held in less than a month before Christmas, visitors will be able to send out LegCo's Christmas e-cards to their friends and relatives via the computer games booths.

To foster a more joyful and pleasant atmosphere for the event, four bands have been invited to perform on the Open Day. They include the "SSY Ho Ngai College Marching Band", "HK & Kln Kai Fong Women's Association Sun Fong Chung Primary School (A.M. & W.D.) Marching Band", "The Church of Christ in China Kei Heep Secondary School Chinese Drum Band" and "Ling Liang Church E Wun Secondary School African Drum and Percussion Band".

The four bands, comprising students from different primary and secondary schools, are winners of gold award in the Hong Kong Marching Band Contest and the Hong Kong Chinese Arts Festival International Music and Arts Competition and winner of "Charming Stage Performance" as well as "Cute Performers" of the "Music Inspired by Nature - Joint School Concerts".

The four bands will conduct their performances in four time-slots on that day (9.10am, 11.15am, 2pm and 4.15pm) in the open area outside the LegCo Building (facing the Statue Square). Each session will have two performances and each performance will last for about 15 minutes.

Similar to last year's Open Day, a photo corner will be set up outside the LegCo Building for individual Members to meet the public and take photos with them. Exhibition booth and interactive computer games on the work of the LegCo will also be provided.

Mr Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, President of the LegCo, Ms Miriam Lau Kin-yee, Chairman of the House Committee, and Ms Emily Lau, Chairman of the Finance Committee, will officiate at an opening ceremony at 9.30am on that day to mark the start of the event.

Admission is free and no ticket is required for the event. Those interested in visiting the LegCo Building are requested to assemble outside Public Entrance II of the Building (facing the Statue Square) at any time from 10am to 5.30pm on that day to wait for admission at regular intervals. Starting from 10am, fast pass for visiting the LegCo Building during noon to 4.30pm will be distributed upon request in Public Entrance II of the Building on a first-come-first-served basis. Fast pass holders can visit the LegCo Building at a designated time. In addition to tours conducted in Cantonese, this year's Open Day will also provide English and Mandarin tours to accommodate the needs of different visitors.

The touring route will be one-way only and members of the public will enter at Public Entrance II and exit at Public Entrance I of the LegCo Building. At the start of the tour, visitors will be given a leaflet introducing the work of the LegCo. They will receive a souvenir before leaving the Building.
