Exco Convenor's transcript
**************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Executive Council Secretariat:

Following is the transcript (English portion) of a meet-the-media session by the Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council (Exco), Mr Leung Chun-ying, and some Exco Non-official Members, on the Consultation Document on the Methods for Selecting the Chief Executive and for Forming the Legislative Council in 2012 this afternoon (November 18):

Reporter: What happens if legislators do not support this proposal?

Convenor: We don't want to anticipate the result of the consultation. The Government is being entirely open-minded and the Government likes to listen to the community at large. The Government likes to win over as much support in the community at large and definitely likes to win over as many Legco members as possible their support. I think from here on, over the next few months, the Government's main objective is to explain the parameters of this consultation, the content of the proposal and to listen objectively to voices in society.

(Please also refer to the Chinese portion of the transcript.)
