The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, will leave for Singapore today (November 10) to attend the 2009 Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) meetings.
Mrs Lau will attend the 21st APEC Ministerial Meeting tomorrow and Thursday (November 11 and 12) during which ministers will exchange views on measures to strengthen the multilateral trading system, accelerate regional economic integration, foster inclusive and sustainable economic growth, and strengthen APEC. She will also accompany the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, to attend the APEC CEO Summit.
On Friday (November 13), Mrs Lau will host a reception for Hong Kong businessmen and prominent local interlocutors in Singapore. The Chief Executive will also attend the reception.
While in Singapore, Mrs Lau will take the opportunity to hold meetings with her ministerial counterparts to exchange views on bilateral trade relations and issues of mutual interest.
She will return to Hong Kong on Saturday (November 14).
