Regarding an earlier announcement on 39 patients of three male wards in Siu Lam Hospital (SLH) confirmed with Human Swine Influenza, SLH announced the following updates today (November 8):
There are three more patients (aged 41 to 55) in one of the concerned wards presented with fever and flu symptoms. Viral tests were arranged for them and they were confirmed with Human Swine Influenza. The patients are being treated under isolation in Tuen Mun Hospital and their condition is stable.
Infection control measures of the hospital are stepped up. Admission to and discharge from the hospital are suspended, while restricted visiting policy is implemented. Patients' relatives have been informed about the situation. All other patients and the staff in the hospital are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
