CE to attend APEC meeting in Singapore

     The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, will leave for Singapore next Thursday (November 12) to attend the 17th Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting.

     Mr Tsang will address the APEC CEO Summit 2009 on the subject of global economic governance on November 13.

     On November 14 and 15, he will attend the Economic Leaders' Meeting, the theme of which is "Sustaining Growth, Connecting the Region".  The meeting will focus on how APEC members should work closer together to foster a sustainable growth in the region.
    
     The meeting will also discuss a wide range of issues including resisting protectionism, tackling climate change and accelerating regional economic integration.

     While in Singapore, Mr Tsang will meet President Hu Jintao on November 14 to update him on Hong Kong's latest development. The Chief Executive will also speak at a dinner of the Hong Kong-Singapore Business Association on November 13 and the Singapore Management University's Ho Rih Hwa Leadership in Asia Public Lecture Series on November 16.

     The Chief Executive will return to Hong Kong on November 16.

     During the absence of Mr Tsang, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, will be Acting Chief Executive.
