The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, attended today (November 2) the first APEC Port Services Network (APSN) Conference in Port Development in Shenzhen. The 2-day conference will provide a platform for APEC member economies to work together to assist the port and shipping industries in the region to ride out the difficulties brought about by the global financial crisis.
Initiated by President Hu Jintao at the 14th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting held in Hanoi in November 2006 and established in Ningbo on November 5 last year (2008), APSN aims to achieve common prosperity of all APEC member economies through increasing cooperation among ports, capacity-building, and information exchange.
