The Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC) has, since its opening in 1989, remained the premier cultural venue offering stimulating environment for arts talent and quality programmes to the public. A fun day will be held on Sunday (November 8) from 2pm to 5.45pm to mark its 20th anniversary.
Organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the "HKCC 20th Anniversary Celebration Fun Day" will feature a series of colourful free activities at the foyer and open space of the HKCC.
At the foyer of the HKCC, Chinese drum music by the Hong Kong Drum Ensemble will mark the beginning of Fun Day followed by the entertaining Cantonese opera performed by a group of children and youths from the Kim Sum Cantonese Opera Association. There will be music, Nepali and Bollywood dance performances from ethnic minorities and the disabled organised by The Centre for Community Cultural Development.
Not to be missed are the happy dancing from The Flying Swallow Dance Studio, musical excerpts by Actors' Family, a cappella singing from the HKFYG Hong Kong Melody Makers and tap dancing from Rhythm and Tempo, all to celebrate the birthday party in different lively styles.
Various programmes will also be held at the piazza areas including cheer team dance, Music Viva outdoor concert, as well as Tom Lee Music Foundation's various music performances including drum circle, live bands, flute and saxophone performances and drum solo performance by internationally known drummer Chris Brien and his students. Roving artists will tour the open areas with physical comedy to bring a joyful weekend to the visitors.
Those born in 1989 - the same year as the opening of HKCC - are invited to join the lucky draw for a souvenir and share the birthday joy with HKCC.
