Police are investigating a traffic accident in Sau Mau Ping this (October 21) morning in which a 66-year-old cyclist was killed.
About 7.15am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 37-year-old man was travelling along Sau Mau Ping Road towards Po Tat Estate. Near Hiu Kwong Steet, it reportedly hit a bicycle ridden by the 66-year-old man.
The cyclist, sustaining head injuries, was taken to United Christian Hospital where he was certified dead at 7.39am.
The LGV driver has been arrested for drink driving and dangerous driving causing death. He was allowed bail pending further enquiries.
Investigations by the Special Investigation Team, Traffic Kowloon East, are under way.
