The Department of Health today (October 13) advised Tseung Kwan O Pui Chi School to suspend classes for seven days from tomorrow to stop the possible spread of influenza-like illness.

The advice was made following an outbreak of influenza-like illness in the special school in which 11 students developed influenza-like illness symptoms.

All affected students are in stable condition. No hospitalisation was required.

The department has visited the school and advised staff on infection control measures. The school is under medical surveillance.

A department spokesman called on parents to pay attention to the health condition of their children, and to remind them to observe good personal and environmental hygiene.
