Diverse cultural programmes to celebrate East Asian Games

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has invited renowned performing groups to present diverse cultural programmes in celebration of the 5th East Asian Games (EAG) in December.

     With the theme of "Cultural EAG", the performers will present various programmes to celebrate this international event. The National Dance Company of Korea will take the lead with its traditional repertoire "Korean FantasyˇVScent of Spring". Renowned Chinese bass Mr Tian Haojiang will star in the full production of the acclaimed opera "Poet Li Bai" written by the contemporary composer Mr Guo Wenjing. Litterateur Mr Leung Ping-kwan, dancer Ms Mui Cheuk-yin, musician Mr Kung Chi-sing and visual artist Ms Leung Mee-ping will jointly create a theatre series "Passion of Body Art". Two tremendous Asian drum groups Za Ondekoza from Japan and U-Theatre from Taiwan will perform in "Ki Kon Ichi Da" and "Sound of the Ocean" respectively. Performing groups from some of the participating countries and regions will also present the varied arts and cultures of East Asia in the "EAG Cultural Extravaganza".     Tickets (except the extravaganza) will be available from October 6 at URBTIX outlets. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients (limited tickets for students and CSSA recipients available for partial programmes on a first-come, first-served basis).
