Police will implement special traffic arrangements along the routes in West Kowloon to facilitate a parade to be held on September 20.
I. Road closure
1. Closure of Canton Road
Road closure on Canton Road will start at 10am and a section of the closed road will be re-opened at about 1pm.
(a) A section of Canton Road between Kowloon Park Drive and Peking Road will be closed;
(b) Traffic along southbound Canton Road should either proceed onto southbound Kowloon Park Drive or make a U-turn outside China Hong Kong City; and
(c) A section of Canton Road between Kowloon Park Drive and Haiphong Road will be re-opened at about 1pm, depending on the progress of the Parade. Traffic along southbound Canton Road will be diverted onto eastbound Haiphong Road when the roads are re-opened.
2. Closure of Nathan Road
The following road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented at 10.30am:
(a) A section of Nathan Road between Salisbury Road and southbound Jordan Road/ northbound Bowring Street will be close;
(b) Traffic along westbound Jordan Road cannot left turn onto southbound Nathan Road;
(c) Traffic along eastbound Austin Road cannot right turn onto southbound Nathan Road;
(d) Traffic along westbound Austin Road cannot left turn onto Pine Tree Hill Road;
(e) Pine Tree Hill Road and Hillwood Road will be closed. Traffic on Hillwood Road cannot enter Nathan Road until the roads are re-opened;
(f) A section of Kimberley Road between Carnarvon Road and Nathan Road will be closed. Traffic leaving Miramar Shopping Centre Carpark can only left turn onto eastbound Kimberley Road;
(g) Traffic along northbound Carnarvon Road can only right turn onto eastbound Kimberley Road;
(h) A section of Granville Road between Carnarvon Road and Nathan Road will be closed. Traffic on northbound Carnarvon Road cannot left turn onto westbound Granville Road;
(i) A section of Cameron Road between Cameron Lane and Nathan Road will be closed;
(j) A section of Humphreys Avenue between Carnarvon Road and Nathan Road will be closed;
(k) A section of Mody Road between Bristol Avenue and Nathan Road will be closed;
(l) A section of Carnarvon Road between Bristol Avenue and Nathan Road will be closed. Traffic on southbound Carnarvon Road will be diverted onto southbound Bristol Avenue;
(m) A section of Middle Road between Nathan Road and MTR TST East Station will be closed;
(n) A section of Haiphong Road between Canton Road and Nathan Road will be closed;
(o) A section of Peking Road between Ashley Road and Nathan Road will be closed;
(p) A section of Middle Road between Ashley Road and Nathan Road will be closed;
(q) Traffic along westbound Middle Road can only turn right onto northbound Kowloon Park Drive;
(r) Lock Road, Hankow Road and Ichang Road will be closed;
(s) A section of Ashley Road between Haiphong Road and Peking Road will be closed; and
(t) Traffic along northbound Kowloon Park Drive cannot right turn onto eastbound Peking Road.
3. Closure of Salisbury Road
The following road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented at 10.45am:
(a) A section of westbound Salisbury Road between Chatham Road South and Star Ferry and a section of eastbound Salisbury Road between Nathan Road and Chatham Road South will be closed intermittently;
(b) Traffic along westbound Salisbury Road will be diverted. Only buses going to Star Ferry will be allowed to proceed along westbound Salisbury Road. Other vehicles will be diverted to right turn onto northbound Chatham Road South;
(c) Traffic along westbound Salisbury Road cannot turn onto northbound Nathan Road;
(d) Westbound Salisbury Road Underpass will be closed;
(e) Traffic along eastbound Salisbury Road will be temporarily stopped at junction with Nathan Road;
(f) Traffic along eastbound Salisbury Road cannot left turn onto northbound Nathan Road;
(g) Traffic along eastbound Salisbury Road cannot left turn onto Middle Road;
(h) Depending on the prevailing traffic condition, traffic may be diverted onto northbound Kowloon Park Drive;
(i) A section of Middle Road between Salisbury Road and MTR TST East Station will be closed;
(j) A section of Hankow Road between Middle Road and Salisbury Road will be closed; and
(k) Traffic along southbound Chatham Road South will be diverted. Only buses going to Star Ferry will be allowed to right turn onto westbound Salisbury Road. Other vehicles will be diverted to left turn onto eastbound Salisbury Road.
II. Bus Diversion
Bus diversion will be implemented as follows:
(a) All franchised buses on southbound Nathan Road will be diverted onto Jordan Road and westbound Public Square Street respectively;
(b) All franchised buses leaving Star Ferry to northbound Nathan Road will be diverted onto either northbound Kowloon Park Drive or northbound Chatham Road South;
(c) Traffic going to Star Ferry along southbound Kowloon Park Drive will be diverted to right turn onto westbound Salisbury Road; and
(d) The Middle Road Bus Terminus will be temporarily suspended until Nathan Road is re-opened.
III. Re-opening of Closed Roads
The Parade on Nathan Road is expected to finish at about 1pm. The closed roads will be re-opened and traffic diversions be lifted by Phases.
1. Re-opening of Salisbury Road
Both bounds of Salisbury Road will be opened when the whole Parade has left HKCC and entered Nathan Road. However, the following traffic controls will still remain in force:
(a) Westbound Salisbury Road Underpass will remain closed;
(b) Traffic along westbound Salisbury Road cannot turn right onto northbound Nathan Road; and
(c) Traffic along eastbound Salisbury Road cannot turn left onto northbound Nathan Road or northbound Middle Road.
2. Re-opening of Nathan Road
(a) Both bounds of Nathan Road will be re-opened when the Parade has entered Haiphong Road;
(b) Pine Tree Hill Road, Hillwood Road, Kimberley Road, Granville Road, Cameron Road, Humphreyˇ¦s Road, Carnarvon Road, Mody Road and Middle Road will be re-opened;
(c) A section of Peking Road between Hankow Road and Nathan Road will be re-opened; and
(d) Traffic along northbound Kowloon Park Drive still cannot right turn onto eastbound Peking Road.
3. Re-opening of Canton Road and Haiphong Road
The Parade will finish at Haiphong Road junction with Canton Road at about 1pm, followed by a Street Performance on Canton Road. Majority of the closed roads will be re-opened when the Parade concludes. Details of road re-opening is as follows:
(a) A section of Canton Road between Kowloon Park Drive and Haiphong Road will be re-opened;
(b) Haiphong Road, Ashley Road, Hanknow Road and Peking Road will be re-opened; and
(c) A section of Canton Road between Haiphong Road and Peking Road will remain closed until 7pm when the Street Performance has finished and the stage was dismantled.
