East Asian Games roving exhibition attracts 70,000 visitors

     The Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games (EAG) large-scale roving exhibition at shopping malls on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories has so far attracted more than 70,000 visitors.

     The exhibition this month (September) will be held from Friday to Sunday (September 18-20) at Cityplaza.

     EAG mascots "Dony" and "Ami" will greet visitors and pose for the cameras with them from 1pm to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday (September 19 and 20).

     The exhibition covers the history of the EAG, Hong Kong's achievements in past EAGs, the Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games Gallery, volunteer programme, theme song, countdown, and the graphics and design palette.

     Also on display are EAG videos, interactive sports information, memorabilia and mascot standees for photo taking.  EAG giveaways will be distributed while supplies last.

     A total of 36 smaller-scale exhibitions are also being held in the 18 districts from March to December (see Annex).

     The exhibitions have been organised by the Information Services Department, in conjunction with the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Home Affairs Department, and the 2009 East Asian Games (Hong Kong) Limited.

     The Hong Kong 2009 EAG will be held from December 5 to 13.  About 2,500 athletes from nine countries and regions of East Asia will take part in the competitions.

     EAG participating countries/regions are China, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Hong Kong China, Japan, Korea, Macau China, Mongolia, Chinese Taipei and Guam.
