In response to media reports on the discovery of poisonous mushrooms at some parks managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the department gave the following response today (September 8):
The LCSD staff found and removed a small quantity of small mushrooms in Lok Fu Park and Kowloon Tsai Park today. The department would step up inspection at its parks and remove any mushroom as soon as possible when found.
As some of the mushrooms may be poisonous and inedible, the LCSD appealed to the public not to pick mushrooms if found. The department has put up notices at parks to remind visitors not to pick plants.
