The President of the Legislative Council, Hon Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, said today (September 2) that he respected the decision of Chief Justice Andrew Li to take early retirement and praised him for his invaluable contribution to Hong Kongˇ¦s legal system, especially in safeguarding the judicial independence.
Mr Tsang believed that Chief Justice Li's arrangements for his retirement were conducive to the smooth operation and orderly succession planning of the Judiciary.
He also thanked Chief Justice Li for his dedicated and exemplary service over the past 12 years and wished him a happy and pleasant retirement.
