After its very successful ˇ§Let there be Peace on Earthˇ¨ benefit concert last Saturday in Toronto, the visiting Hong Kong Children's Symphony Orchestra will travel to Ottawa to perform at the Canadian War Museum this Saturday (August 15, Ottawa time) at 2.30pm.

The top-notch 69-member youth orchestra, serving as Hong Kongˇ¦s goodwill ambassadors, will first take part in a ceremony unveiling a Memorial Wall erected by the Hong Kong Veterans Commemorative Association (HKVCA) at a site on the corner of Sussex Avenue and King Edward Avenue in the Canadian capital.  The names of the 1,976 Canadian soldiers who were sent to Hong Kong to help defend it against the invading Japanese Imperial Army in 1941 will be engraved on the Memorial Wall.

Led by Hong Kong's ˇ§music iconˇ¨ Dr Yip Wai-hong, the full-house performance in Toronto last Saturday raised CAD$15,000 for the HKVCA. A cheque presentation ceremony was held during the intermission of the concert.

Co-organised by the Hong Kong-Canada Business Association and the Toronto Hong Kong Lions Club, the ˇ§Let there be Peace on Earthˇ¨ concert was supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Canada.
