Elevated walkways under Tamar Development Project gazetted

     The Government published a notice in the Gazette today (August 7) on construction of elevated walkways across Harcourt Road and Tim Mei Avenue under the Tamar Development Project to provide convenient pedestrian access to Tamar. The scheme has been authorised by the Chief Executive in Council.

     The works include provision of an elevated walkway across Harcourt Road connecting Tamar and the footpath adjacent to Admiralty Centre; an elevated walkway connecting Tamar and the existing Citic Tower Elevated Walkway System; escalators, staircase and lifts for the elevated walkways; permanent closure and conversion of a section of the existing carriageway into footpath; temporary closure of sections of the existing carriageways, footpaths and amenity areas; and ancillary works such as  drainage, landscaping and utility works.

     The scheme is expected to start later this year for completion by mid-2011.
