In response to media enquiries today (July 27) on the concerns raised by the staff of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) on the progress of the public service broadcasting (PSB) review, a spokesman for the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau said the following:
"The PSB review is still on-going and remains very much a priority. Once our study is completed, the findings will be made public. The community and RTHK staff will be engaged in mapping out the future PSB policy. Topics to be covered will include the future of RTHK, community radio and public access broadcasting.
In the meantime, the Government continues to provide adequate financial and manpower resources to support the operation of RTHK. RTHK continues to enjoy editorial independence as provided under its Framework Agreement with the Government."
