The Government intends to carry out improvement works to trim and remove rock outcrops which have posed danger to swimmers at the three beaches. The works will be carried out at Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach and Kwun Yam Beach in Cheung Chau, involving about 12,100 square metres and 9,960 square metres of foreshore and sea-bed respectively; and at Lo So Shing Beach, Lamma Island, which will involve about 8,420 square metres of foreshore and sea-bed.
The works in Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach and Kwun Yam Beach are scheduled to begin in November and to be completed by March 2010, while the works in Lo So Shing Beach are scheduled to begin in December and to be completed by March 2010.
The extent of the areas affected is described in notices published in the Government Gazette today (July 17).
The notices together with their related plans can be seen on notice boards posted near the three sites. The plans can also be seen and purchased on order at the Lands Department Survey and Mapping Office, 23rd Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point. They can also be seen at the Islands District Office, 20th Floor, Harbour Building, 38 Pier Road, Central. Those on Cheung Chau Tung Wan Beach and Kwun Yam Beach can also be seen at Islands District Office Public Enquiry Centre, Cheung Chau Sub-office, Ground Floor, 22 San Hing Street, Cheung Chau.
Any person who considers that he has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshores and sea-beds involved may submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20th Floor, North Point Government Offices, 333 Java Road, North Point, by September 17.
