**********************************************************

A 60-member delegation of post-secondary students from Guangdong Province is visiting Hong Kong to share experiences with local young people.

The delegation arrived in Hong Kong today (July 12) for a three-day visit in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Cultural Exchange Tour, co-organised by the Home Affairs Bureau (HAB) of the HKSAR, the Department of Culture of Guangdong Province and the Tertiary Education Services Office of Macao SAR.

To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the HKSAR Government has organised a variety of celebratory activities, including the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Youth Cultural Exchange Tour. This is the second youth cultural exchange programme jointly organised by the HAB and the Department of Culture of Guangdong Province since 2004.

Officiating at the launch ceremony, the Under Secretary for Home Affairs, Ms Florence Hui, said, "This exchange tour can help enhance understanding and friendship among youth from the three places. It provides the young people with a good opportunity to learn about the differences in culture and lifestyle of the three places and broaden their horizons. The activity will also enable the youth in Hong Kong to foster a deep understanding of the culture of our nation."

The Guangdong youth delegation, joined by some 60 local post-secondary students, will visit the Hong Kong Museum of History, cultural monuments and environmental facilities, and attend cultural seminars to experience the versatility of the Hong Kong lifestyle, which is characterised by the blend of Chinese and Western culture.

About 60 Hong Kong post-secondary students and the Guangdong youth delegation will leave for Macao on July 14 for a two-day visit. During the visit, they will meet university students in Macao for cultural exchange. The Hong Kong delegation will then visit various cities in Guangdong Province, including Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan and Kaiping, from July 15 to 20.
