The Government today (July 10) announced the re-appointment of Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung as the Chairman of the Consumer Council for two years, with effect from Monday (July 13).
Professor Cheung is the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Education. He has served on the Consumer Council since January 1, 2002, as a member and was appointed chairman on July 13, 2007.
"During the past two years, under Professor Cheungˇ¦s leadership, the council has successfully undertaken various initiatives to safeguard consumer rights. We are confident that with Professor Cheungˇ¦s rich experience in public service and able leadership, the council will continue to enhance its consumer protection work," a government spokesman said.
The re-appointment notice is published in the Gazette today (July 10).
