Building cleaning campaign launched in Tsuen Wan
************************************************

The Tsuen Wan District Office launched a building cleaning campaign today (June 28), appealing for support from owners' corporations and residents to step up cleaning operations in their buildings and living environment and help control the spread of human swine influenza.

During the three-day campaign, a social enterprise engaged by the Tsuen Wan District Office will wash the common areas, including corridors, stairs and rooftops, of a list of old private buildings without any management bodies.

Tsuen Wan District Officer, Mr Cheung Doi-ching said, "The continuous support and participation of residents is essential in maintaining the community cleanliness. The campaign aimed to remind the residents the importance of environmental hygiene and encourage them to conduct cleaning operations regularly, and establish owners' corporations to effectively manage facilities and hygiene of the buildings."

Tsuen Wan District Council (TWDC) Chairman, Mr Chau How-chen, said, "TWDC will continue to work closely with the Tsuen Wan District Office and district organisations to sustain flu prevention efforts and build a healthy community together."

To appeal for residents' support in the cleaning campaign and promote flu prevention messages, representatives from the Tsuen Wan District Office and Tsuen Wan district councillors also distributed cleaning packs and leaflets to residents during the cleaning operation today.

The Tsuen Wan District Office plans to organise similar cleaning operations at old single-block buildings in the district in July and August to further promote environmental cleanliness.
