The Government announced today (June 25) that the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, had appointed 17 new non-official members and re-appointed 52 incumbent non-official members and four official members to the Commission on Strategic Development for three years with effect from July 1.
The Commission on Strategic Development is personally chaired by the Chief Executive. It gauges community views on issues of strategic importance to Hong Kong's social and economic development.
The 69 non-official members appointed to the commission in its new term are drawn from a broad cross-section of the community comprising mainly professionals, academics, politicians and personalities from the business, labour and media sectors. The four official members are the Chief Secretary for Administration, the Financial Secretary, the Director of the Chief Executive's Office and the Head of the Central Policy Unit.
The Secretariat of the Commission on Strategic Development is established within the Central Policy Unit. The commission's terms of reference and membership list are at Annex.
