The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Edward Yau, today (June 24) visited a Japanese department store in City Plaza, Taikoo Shing, to see how retailers are preparing for the environmental levy scheme on plastic shopping bags which will come into effect on July 7. Photograph shows Mr Yau using his own bag while shopping in the supermarket. He said he was pleased to see that stickers and tent cards are placed at the cashier counters to make it easier for customers to know that there will be a levy for each plastic shopping bag they ask for. |
