The "Multi-media Lecture Series: Parallel Audiosphere", presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will be held from July to August. Multi-media experts will be invited to talk about and demonstrate in their specialised areas.
The lectures will be hosted by music critic Yuen Chi-chung. Speakers will share valuable knowledge about various approaches to different kinds of sound in their own spheres of creation, and the sound, music and art that influenced them. This is a golden chance to get new perspectives on listening.

July 25 (Saturday) 3.30pm
Exhibition Gallery, Hong Kong Cultural Centre
Speaker: S.T. Choi Sa-ho (in Cantonese)
Topic: In Sync - Exploration in audio visual collaboration
Content: Tracing the beginnings of audio-visual collaboration, MV and the first concert applying slide-projection, the popularity of VJing, and the multi-media audio-visual live performance, the lecture will discuss the evolution of audio-visual integration and collaboration.
July 26 (Sunday) 3.30pm

Speaker: Sin:Ned Wong Chung-fai (in Cantonese)
Topic: Sonic Alchemy - Releasing unusual sounds from usual objects
Content: Through re-purposing daily objects, the speaker revealed new sounds for his musical compositions. He will discuss how other artists use conventional musical instruments and equipment for alternative music performances.
August 1 (Saturday) 3.30pm

Speaker: Kung Chi-shing (in Cantonese)
Topic: More than Music, Not Just Theatre - Finding new possibilities in the connection between music and theatre
Content: By introducing examples of major music theatre works of pioneering artists such as Robert Wilson and Laurie Anderson, Kung will analyse the development of avant-garde music theatre, with his own practice and approach in bridging different kinds of music with theatre performances.
August 2 (Sunday) 3.30pm

Speaker: Yuen Cheuk-wa (in Cantonese)
Topic: Sonic Fascination - Expanding the canvas for music composition
Content: Music and recording technology has driven a lot of changes in pop and contemporary music. Unconventional approaches or inventive ways of using sound technology have achieved sonic excitement that is influencing the evolution of music.
August 9 (Sunday) 3.30pm

Speaker: Cedric Maridet (in English with Cantonese narration)
Topic: Ways of Listening - Environmental sound and our relation to the sonic world
Content: The speaker will introduce his practice of field recording as a way to direct his listening and discuss how sonic experience can open up the wider possibility for making art. He will refer to audio examples from different genres of sound art, oral traditions, as well as his own works.
Tickets for each lecture priced at HK$50 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions will be granted to senior citizens aged 60 or over, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients.
