The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) this morning (May 19) raided an unlicensed food factory at the rear of a stall in Lai King Estate Market and seized about 430 catties of raw and cooked food, including pig carcasses, roast pigs, BBQ pork and roast ducks.
A man was charged with operating a food factory business without a licence.
Under the Food Business Regulation, the maximum penalty, upon conviction, for operating an unlicensed food factory is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.
"We will continue our stringent enforcement action against unlicensed food business to safeguard food safety and public health," an FEHD spokesman said.
"People should report such illegal activities through the 1823 Call Centre."
