The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (May 6) obtained five orders for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $1,400,000 against five employers in the District Court.
The District Court today issued five judgments against five employers: Fidelity Concept Development Limited trading as Royal Plaza Restaurant, Million Profit (China) Limited treading as Royal Plaza Court Seafood Restaurant, Chan Lai Har trading as Supreme Hats Manufacturing Co., France Dˆmcor Limited and Best Wealth Enterprise Limited trading as Delight Restaurant. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA the sums of $638,113.42, $483,204.06, $168,115.65, $107,100 and $86,568.28, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 176, 182, five, two and 26 employees of the defendants respectively.
The amounts awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the respective defendants each to pay costs of $930.
