The HKSAR Government has received a model of China's Yuanwang-6 space tracking ship from the China Satellite Maritime Tracking and Control Department. The model was presented by the leader of the Yuanwang-6 delegation from the China Satellite Maritime Tracking and Control Department, Mr Ding Xingnong, to the Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, today (May 3).
During the visit of Yuanwang-6 in Hong Kong, a special exhibition is currently organised by the Science Museum on Level 2 of the Ocean Terminal to introduce the background, missions and technologies of the Yuanwang fleet. A 1:100 scale model of the Yuanwang-6 space tracking ship produced by the China Satellite Maritime Tracking and Control Department is the highlight exhibit on display.
At the presentation ceremony today, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, on behalf of the HKSAR Government, thanked the China Satellite Maritime Tracking and Control Department for the gift.
:We will put the model in the Space Museum and Science Museum for regular exhibitions so that Hong Kong people can appreciate the impressive posture of Yuanwang-6. The model will also bring back the fond memories of those people who have an opportunity to visit the ship,; he said.
Mr Tsang presented to Mr Ding Xingnong photo albums recording Yuanwang-6・s visit to Hong Kong.
After the presentation ceremony, Mr Tsang attended the thank you reception held on board of Yuanwang-6 by the China Satellite Maritime Tracking and Control Department. Addressing the reception, Mr Tsang said Yuanwang-6・s first visit to Hong Kong was successful and well received by Hong Kong people. A total of 14,000 people visited the ship in the past four days and the public lecture at Science Museum had recorded full attendance.
:Through thematic exhibition, guided visits and talks, the visit of Yuanwang-6 has enabled Hong Kong people to know more about China's space tracking ship and further enhanced the knowledge of aerospace technology among young people,; he said.
Mr Tsang thanked the China Satellite Maritime Tracking and Control Department and the crew of Yuangwang-6 for successfully bringing in a series of science education and national education activities for Hong Kong people, as well as kicking off the celebration programme for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People・s Republic of China in Hong Kong.
Yuanwang-6 will conclude its six-day visit to Hong Kong tomorrow (May 4).
