Hospital Authority diuretic drug replacement update
***************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

Regarding the drug replacement by Hospital Authority (HA) for patients under medication treatment of diuretic drug Frusemide 40mg, the spokesman for HA has the following updates today (April 29):

Since HA has secured sufficient provision of Frusemide 40mg from other supplier, full replacement will be provided to all patients concerned starting from today (April 29) to ensure adequate prescription until the next follow up appointment, instead of the previous replacement for two weeks.

Patients concerned are required to bring along their Identity Card or a copy of the ID card and the drug bag labelling "FRUSEMIDE 40MG" to the pharmacy of 15 designated public hospitals for replacement. The replacement does not require any prior booking or medical consultation. The drug replacement programme is scheduled between 23 April 2009 and 6 May 2009, for a period of two weeks.  Patients with mobility problem can ask others to replace the drug for them by providing the aforementioned documents.

As at 7 pm today, HA arranged to replace the drug for a total of 17,770 patients.  The arrangement was smooth and orderly.
