Shek Kip Mei Community Hall has been reopened for public use after the completion of upgrading works, providing a more comfortable environment for users, especially with the onset of summer.
Managed by the Home Affairs Department, the hall has been a popular venue for community activities in Sham Shui Po. The hall, activity room and conference room are available for public hiring and the usage rate is as high as 80%.
To ensure this 24-year-old hall is in top condition, the Sham Shui Po District Office and District Council made use of government and district minor works funds to carry out a facelift of the hall in conjunction with the Housing Department.
Upgrading works began last December. Major items include replacement of glass windows, stage and window curtains, furniture, conference table and exhibition panels.
The replacement of the decade-old air-conditioning system is timely with summer fast approaching, as the hall is a designated temporary heat shelter in the district.
