The Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mrs Carrie Yau, presented a souvenir to the Director of National Museum of Contemporary Art of Korea, Mr Bae Soon-hoon, today (April 8). The souvenir, titled "Lovely Panda", is a watercolour painting by a registered artist of the Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong. He was recently awarded as one of the Arts Ambassadors by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. The young artist is a mentally disabled person but he loves painting and is very dedicated to it. The work depicts a happy panda. It shows how much artistic creation has given him joy and that the opportunity to communicate with others through art. The work was chosen for presentation to the National Museum of Contemporary Art as the Museum has special programmes for deprived people. The Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Mrs Carrie Yau, agrees that public institutions should make arts and culture available to all people in the society. |
