It is a work done by an art student studying in the Fine Arts Department of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The piece reflects how the young student was inspired by the Chinese tradition of seal-carving and re-interpret the century-old art form in contemporary ways. The work, done in wax fibre, combines carving, calligraphy and the title of the work is painting which is an interesting crossover of mixed media and aesthetics. The title of the work is "Cultural Juncture", reflects the fact that Hong Kong, as Korea too, exists in a East-meets-West and Past-meets-Present culural juncture, and has a lot of potentiality for innovative developments. It is our hope that both Korea and Hong Kong will work hand in hand in its arts and cultural developments, to showcase our historical cultural treasures as well as to create new cultural treasures and talents. |
