A 20-member Immigration Department delegation tomorrow (April 6) will begin a seven-day study programme on the Mainland.
It is the ninth Mainland study programme at Beijing Gong An University and is co-ordinated by the Immigration Service Institute of Training and Development and the Immigration Department's Beijing Office.
The delegation is headed by Acting Assistant Principal Immigration Officer (Records and Data Management), Mr Ma Hing-yeung, and comprises a Chief Immigration Officer, five Senior Immigration Officers, one Acting Senior Immigration Officer, five Immigration Officers, four Chief Immigration Assistants and three Senior Immigration Assistants.
The officers will attend lectures on various subjects, including Basic Law, Immigration Control, Management of Mainland residents travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau, Management of Mainland residents travelling abroad, and Criminal Psychology. The delegation will also visit Hangzhou.
Deputy Director of Immigration, Mr David Chiu Wai-kai, met the officers before they left for the Mainland. He said the study programme would provide a good opportunity for the officers to broaden their horizons and help establish a firmer and closer working connection with their Mainland counterparts.
The delegation will return to Hong Kong on April 12.
