Members of the Transport Advisory Committee (TAC) were briefed by the management of the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL) at a meeting today (April 1) on the progress and fares of the Tseung Kwan O Extension (Phase II).
"As the project is an extension of the MTR system, we note that MTRCL has decided to follow the existing structure in setting fares," said TAC Chairman, Ms Teresa Cheng Yuek-wah.
The TAC was briefed on train service details and the operational readiness of the extension. Members noted that upon commissioning, the frequency of trains running between Tseung Kwan O Station and North Point Station during peak hours will be enhanced. They also noted that as one out of every four trains will run between North Point Station and LOHAS Park Station, the headway of trains for Po Lam Station and Hau Hang Station will change from two minutes 40 seconds at present to two minutes 30 seconds by the shortest, and five minutes at most.
ˇ§We note that the LOHAS Park Station is needed in view of the coming population intake at a new residential development in the area. We understand that passengers of Po Lam Station and Hang Hau Station might be slightly affected by the new service arrangements, and that MTRCL will closely monitor the situation and adopt measures to enable passengers to familiarise with the new arrangements," Ms Cheng said.
