More than 30 major and district public libraries of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will open seven days a week from tomorrow (April 1) as a measure to enhance library services.
The Chairman of the Public Libraries Advisory Committee, Professor John Leong Chi-yan, today (March 31) hailed the extended library opening hours as another milestone in the history of Hong Kong Public Libraries.
Professor Leong noted that from tomorrow, the opening hours of 33 major and district libraries will be extended to 71 hours per week. "Under this new arrangement, the major and district libraries in the New Territories will follow the same pattern of those of the urban area of opening seven days a week, compared to six days a week at present, to better serve the public.
