The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 26) obtained two orders in the District Court against two employers for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $529,000.
The District Court issued judgment against Ng Chun Wa trading as Chun Hung Transp Co. and Home Fortune International Enterprises Limited trading as Wong Shing Seafood Hot Pot Restaurant. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $383,430.66 and $146,467.71 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to five and 42 employees.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendants to each pay costs of $930.
