Tsang Tak-sing to attend World Buddhist Forum in Wuxi and Taipei

     The Secretary for Home Affairs, Mr Tsang Tak-sing, will attend the 2nd World Buddhist Forum to be held in Wuxi and Taipei in his capacity as the Hon. Head Delegate of the Delegation of Hong Kong and Macau Buddhism from March 26 to April 2, 2009.

     Hong Kong and Macau will form a 100-strong delegation to attend the 2nd World Buddhist Forum. Mr Tsang is invited by the Hong Kong Buddhist Association to be the Hon. Head Delegate of the delegation.

     He will attend the opening ceremony of the forum on March 28 in Wuxi. Together with members of the delegation, he will then leave for Taipei by a chartered flight to attend the forum's closing ceremony which will be held on April 1.

     While in Wuxi and Taipei, Mr Tsang will attend panel discussions of the forum to exchange views with Buddhist circles in the Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. He will also give a speech on Buddhism and Culture at a discussion session on March 31 in Taipei.

     Mr Tsang will return to Hong Kong on April 2 (Thursday).

     The theme of the 2nd World Buddhist Forum is "Harmonious World, A Synergy of Conditions". It is jointly organised by the Buddhist Association of China, the Buddha's Light International Association in Taiwan, the Hong Kong Buddhist Association and the China Religious Culture Communication Association.
