The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 19) pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $28,000 on behalf of seven employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
The two defendants, Fully Well Corporation Limited and Teamwork Shipping International Limited, did not appear and in their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $22,207.50 and $6,095.67, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Adjudicator further ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $126 and $176.
