The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) today (February 26) released results of tests on eggs. Results of 19 samples available today showed that they were all genuine eggs.
"The tests were conducted in response to complaints from the public alleging that some eggs bought from the market were fake ones. From February 19 till now, the CFS received 18 such complaints and 30 concerned egg samples were sent to the Government Laboratory for tests," a CFS spokesman said.
"The tests covered major components of chicken eggs, including DNA, fatty acids, protein and egg white protein. Possible adulterants such as artificial colours were also tested."
The CFS will continue to closely monitor the situation.
