Hongkong Post and Korea Post collaborate on e-commerce (with photos)

     The Acting Postmaster General Mr Y F Chan today (February 18)announced a new e-commerce collaboration between Hongkong Post and Korea Post which offers customers a wide selection of popular products and e-merchants, and more cost-effective promotion and delivery in Hong Kong and Korea.

     To signify the importance of the collaboration, Mr Chan and Dr Ko Kwang-Sup, Director General of Korea Post, signed a memorandum of understanding at the General Post Office to-day.

     "We have witnessed strong growth of outward mail traffic generated by Internet trade in Hong Kong. We strongly believe that postal administrations should collaborate more closely to grasp the business opportunities of this blooming Internet trade and counteract the potential negative impact of the latest economic turnmoil,¡¨ said Mr Chan.

     "We are pleased to team up with Korea Post in providing Hong Kong customers a wider selection of Korean products in our Internet shopping mall, 'ShopThruPost', using our value-for-money promotion and distribution solution for their merchants. Hongkong Post is dedicated to providing cost effective and reliable solutions to ensure products are safely delivered to customers.  Moreover, through this collaboration, we aspire to drive more traffic for our Speedpost and other related postal services such as logistics and direct mail services,¡¨he added.  

     Mr Chan indicated that collaboration with other postal administrations on e-commerce is underway and that the variety of products available at the ¡§ShopThruPost¡¨ website will be gradually increased.

     Customers will be able to order selected Korean products on
(www.shopthrupost.hk) and Hong Kong products on (world.epost.kr) from now to enjoy the quality and value-for-money delivery service of Speedpost and EMS between the two destinations.
