The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (February 5) pursued four claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $61,000 on behalf of 16 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
Chance River Limited trading as Kyou Sushi Ajikobo, did not dispute the amount claimed. The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA $43,349.32, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The other three defendants, Rhoda International Kindergarten, Data-Form Engineering Limited, Pridehill Limited, did not appear and in their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $11,531.94, $6,008.96,and $530.16, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Adjudicator further ordered the respective defendants to pay costs of $230, $140, $96 and $146.
