Enrolments for plant exhibit competition close Friday

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (February 4) reminded people that entries for the plant exhibit competition of Hong Kong Flower Show 2009 would close on Friday (February 6). Applications are free.

     The flower show will be held from March 13-22 at Victoria Park. This year's flower show features Cosmos as its theme flower with the theme of "Blossoming Welcome for the East Asian Games".

     The Hong Kong Flower Show is a major annual event presented by the LCSD to promote horticulture and the awareness of greening. Each year, it provides an opportunity for hundreds of thousands of local citizens and horticulture lovers from all over the world to appreciate the beauty of flowers and share their experiences in flower cultivation. The last show attracted more than 540,000 visitors and more than 200 organisations from 21 countries.

     The plant exhibit competition, comprising Open and School Categories, is divided into 15 sections and 92 classes with trophies awarded to section winners. The Hong Kong Flower Show Cups will be awarded to the best exhibits of the Open and School Categories. A prize presentation ceremony will be held during the show at Victoria Park.

     Completed entry forms should be returned in person or by post to the Secretariat, Show Committee of Hong Kong Flower Show 2009, 11/F Leisure and Cultural Services Headquarters, 1-3 Pai Tau Street, Sha Tin; or submitted by fax (2691 7264) on or before Friday.

     Entry forms and rules of the competition are available at the following locations and website:
