Following is a statement by the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, today (February 3) on the death of Sir Donald Luddington:

"I am deeply grieved to learn that Sir Donald Luddington has passed away. Being a long-time friend of mine, Sir Donald has been most loyal to Hong Kong and we shall always remember his valuable contributions. He was the Commissioner, ICAC from 1978 to 1980 and before that, he has held a number of important government posts including the Secretary for Home Affairs. He has also served as the Chairman of the Public Services Commission. Sir Donald has deeply impressed me with his staunch commitment to public service.

I would like to send my deepest condolences to Sir Donald's family and friends."
