Members of the public are invited to apply for about 3,300 new standard niches in the Kwai Chung Columbarium of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) from tomorrow (January 9) to February 6.

The charges for each standard niche is $3,000 and a memorial plaque is $295.

Application forms can be obtained from FEHD's Cemeteries and Crematoria (C&C) offices on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon. They are also available through fax or on the department's website (www.fehd.gov.hk).

Applicants can submit the completed application forms, together with copies of the required documents, in person during office hours, or by mail or fax, to the C&C offices. Late applications will not be accepted. A computer ballot will be conducted on February 20 (Friday) to decide the selection priorities of the applicants. The ballot results will be posted at the C&C offices and FEHD's website.
ˇ@ˇ@If applications received are fewer than the niches available, the remaining stock will be open for another round of applications starting February 12 on a first-come-first-served and registration for appointment basis. The public can check the latest availability situation with the C&C offices or by visiting the departmentˇ¦s website on February 10.ˇ@Applications in this round must be submitted to the C&C office in Kowloon.
