The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Authority (MPFA):
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (January 7) obtained orders in the District Court against five employers for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $830,000.
The District Court today issued judgments against Modern Apex Arts Limited, Great Source Engineering Limited, Infinity Holdings Limited, Chiu Tak Hang trading as Tak Kee Ho and Jumbo Merit International Limited. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA $322,227.99, $256,205.57, $117,908.87, $74,737.56 and $64,638.49, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 11, 40, 15, 5 and 57 employees of the respective defendants.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court ordered the defendants each to pay costs of $930.
