The Land Registry today (January 6) released the land registration statistics recorded for 2008.
The total number of sale and purchase agreements for all types of building units received for registration in the Land Registry for the period was 113,298. This represented a decrease of 22.2% compared with 2007 but was 14.3% higher than in 2006.
The total consideration involved in these agreements was $413.11 billion. This was down 21.4% compared with 2007 but 31.1% higher than in 2006.
During 2008, 162,912 assignments of building units were lodged for registration. This was an increase of 2.9% compared with the 158,287 recorded during 2007 and 29.3% higher compared with the 125,983 recorded in 2006.
The total consideration involved, amounting to $543.47 billion, was 15.3% higher than 2007 and 64.9% higher than 2006.
Searches of land records made by members of the public during 2008 totalled 4,684,327. This was 1.6% lower than 2007 but 18.3% higher than 2006.
