WX prefix identity cards for foreign domestic helpers and imported workers

     The Immigration Department will issue “WX” prefix identity cards for foreign domestic helpers and imported workers under the Supplementary Labour Scheme from Friday (January 2).

     An Immigration Department spokesman said today (December 31) that all foreign domestic helpers and imported workers under the Supplementary Labour Scheme are currently issued with identity cards which have a “W” prefix.  With the “W” prefix identity card numbers almost finished, the Immigration Department will start issuing “WX” prefix identity cards to newly arrived foreign domestic helpers and imported workers under the Supplementary Labour Scheme on January 2.  “The ‘W’ or ‘WX’ prefix identity cards will help prospective employers identify the employment status of foreign domestic helpers and imported workers,” the spokesman said.

     “Enquiries on whether a job seeker is lawfully employable can be made to the Immigration Department through the department’s enquiry hotline 2824 1551 or faxline 2824 1166 or email to anti_crime@immd.gov.hk.”
